Sweet - much maligned

Looking back now what a bloody awesome group they were. Very disrespected by the industry but fuck me they had some cracking songs.
Great time for music, the 70s

Wiki is probably right, but officially wrong. Read the note to the entry. From the Independent obit.

CYGNET - I think you misunderstood, I made two separate points, Chinn and Chapman we’re indeed prolific songwriters for Sweet and others AND Fox on the Run, which I caught a bit of, wouldn’t get made today HTH

I just cannot believe the number of Sweet devotees on WHO!
I may start one up about the "genius" of Busted. Same shit, different decade.

Now that Motley Crue have been mentioned, I feel it is my duty to draw your attention to this video showcasing their talent, especially the singer's.

There's some splendid drumming by the brilliant Mick Tucker on the Sweet track 'Set Me Free'

How they are all still alive is to me even more amazing than the lucrative career they forged from shite like 'Too Fast For Love'.

It's impossible to be worse than Motley Crue, so don't think that's a compelling argument.

Yep. A much better, early version of Mottley Crue. Proper rock n rollers offstage as well from what I hear.

Sweet certainly aren't one of the groups I hate.
That's as far as I'm going to go towards them being "awesome".

Sum.
Yea. Apologies for being thick.
In my defence, drink has had its wicked way with me this evening.
Devil gate drive indeed.

Chinn and Chapman didn't write Fox On The Run. That was written and produced by the band themselves. Also Love Is Like Oxygen was mainly written by Andy Scott. Both songs made the US Top Ten.

Chinn and Chapman - very underrated songwriters
Stumbled across Fox on the Run on YouTube the other day, you’d never get away with that these days!
